R.U.R. is one of Ashe’s proudest shows. This innovative play, adapted and directed by Meagan Mulgrew and produced by RiffRaff Tulsa as their first ever production, turns Karel Capek’s original cautionary tale on it’s head. Ashe was elated to take on this new, empowered but still radically empathetic version of the protagonist Helena. This production not only won “Best Play” and “Best Adaptation” at Tulsa’s community Potate Awards, but also helped Ashe win a runner-up award for “Best Actor” among 21 other productions that season. This show speaks especially clearly to her mission as an artist: telling stories that matter, with heart, humor, and a whole lot of humanity.
